Freedom of expression is something I believe all of us (deep down) desire as humans: the permission to create, express, and experience without limitation. The ways in which we can do this are endless. I also believe creativity connects us all; to one another and this precious Earth we share. And if we're going to change lives and make our world, our Earth, a better place, we need to communicate in positive ways that allow us to truly, authentically, connect.
When I launched Rise 'n Shine Arts, my vision encompassed something bigger than an art gallery filled with visual communication. Something much broader than just custom writing as written communication. And something beyond collaborative events as a form of participatory communication. Rise 'n Shine Arts is all of that and more: It's a community, a concept, and an entity encouraging humans to experience limitless creativity and connect to our source: the Earth.
Rise 'n Shine Arts is on a mission to connect cultures, ages, and professions-- artists and arts of all types (some new, strange and even unheard of) so that together, we can harness the power of connection and community. Rise 'n Shine Arts' vision is to elevate underground artists who have never been seen but have bewildering beauty to share-- to give a written voice to brand new earth-conscious startups with passion-- and to ultimately, illuminate all our eyes and expand our experiences with endless forms of creativity.
I've always thought nature is the greatest artist. Growing up on my family’s organic farm in northern Colorado, I spent my days “playing in the dirt.” Tending the vegetable fields our food came from instilled in me a strong connection with the land, our source of our sustenance. In 2013 and 2014, while working with an organic farm in Colorado (Grant Family Farms), I hosted Rise 'n Shine Arts Festival as way to blend an artistic immersion with healing and the land.
The events were small but overflowing with heart. This ignited my future vision: I wanted to create catalysts for people's experiences of liberation, art, and meaningful connection. I wanted to continue to watch how rejuvenated people became after spending a weekend with nature and each other. I wanted to keep watching the ideas that blossomed when people from completely different walks of life merged their never-before-shared music, paintings, dance, chocolate sculptures, culinary creations, coaching abilities, and other forms of art. During the past few years I've poured my energy into creating my own art--written and visual. But, stay tuned... the events will return...
BLOOMING... Since I was a child, the Amazon rainforest has always beckoned me to explore it's hot, muggy, life-abounding belly. Finally, in 2014, I traveled to a small animal rescue shelter in the Amazon Rainforest of Peru and volunteered helping re-habilitate animals who had been injured due to deforestation. In 2017, I returned. During these trips, I felt my compassion for our planet deepen. My desire to elevate awareness and communicate nature's beauty blossomed.
My travels also took me to Italy, Mexico and around the states, fueling me with inspiration.
A PERSONAL NOTE...
It's important for me to truly get to know my clients and build a strong foundation of trust so that our collaborations are productive, inspiring, and fun!
So, likewise, a little about me...
I'm an eternal lover of plants. And food. So much so that sometimes I fall asleep dreaming about what's for breakfast. What do I love to get lost doing? Painting with rich, thick colors. Gardening barefoot and sipping kombucha. Cozy evenings by the fire with my love and a glass of blueberry wine. Playing with my precious 8-year-old puppy, "Bubba Blue." Cooking delicious meals that make guests' bellies merry.
What makes my soul tick? Dreaming about the miracle that is happening: the fact that despite the severely broken state of humanity, a new world is quietly, surely being born-- through the stirring seeds of passion-- through seemingly small acts of love. I find calm in the fact that, though some think such an assumption irrationally idealistic, I know with confidence that to the degree the world is breaking, it is also awakening. I find comfort in the fact that someday, yes, we will all return to "compost," to the sea, dissolved by flames and recycled by soil, and re-birthed by an eternal cycle.
What's your vision? Your passion? What makes you rise and shine every morning?
